About me

I grew up on picket lines, in community meetings, with boisterous family dinners and Sunday morning comics. I inherited a questioning nature and social justice nerve from my activist father and a love of learning and creative exploration from my mother. Early on, I learned the importance and joy of creating for and with others. Craft projects were a constant as were building cardboard forts, sewing Halloween costumes, baking cookies, and drawing cartoon portraits.

These days, all of this happens with my own children and I’ve deepened my love of creative challenges and the journey of exploration. I channel all of this into my creative work; whether it is an annual report on community service, environmental design in office spaces, a 1,000-person event on leadership, or a cardboard re-creation of a spaceship for my son’s 5th birthday party.

I currently work at City Year, Inc. where I am the VP & Creative Director, in charge of all visual aspects of the brand. I started at City Year in 2002, leading a team of diverse young City Year Boston corps members. During my tenure at City Year, I have had the privilege to lead multiple brand re-inventions and steward all of our major marketing campaigns as we seek to engage our evergreen target audience of 17-25 year olds.

Prior to City Year, I graduated from the University of Michigan with high honors and worked around Detroit teaching and developing creative expression in both visual arts and literacy for children. Over the years, I have also worked with a variety of non-profit organizations and local companies including Bella Luna Restaurant, Dewees Island, Michigan Audubon Society, StudentsFirst, and Year Up.

Lastly, but also importantly, I love a good pun, I fully have an obsession with small batch ice cream and I love a good graphic tee.
