Founding Stories

City Year’s Founding Stories are a collection of cross-cultural stories and quotes that are woven into the organization’s culture and inspire our work.

This project, a first of its kind, was to compile these stories in combination with original works of art created by our community of corps, staff, alumni and supporters.

Here, I used thematic imagery of colorful threads to show the strength of these beliefs as part of City Year’s foundation. The crowd-sourced artwork was meant to capture how these stories resonate across our diverse community and show how they inspire us.

Our Founding Stories are often used for design on our promo items or for postcards or look and feel at our events. The stories are engaging, allegorical, and a good way for us to educate others about our values.
